Purpose of Language

Language serves many purposes which are vital to man's survival.

Some of the purposes of language are for:

1. persuading

2. questioning

3. directing

4. providing aesthetic pleasure

5. informing

6. reflecting

7. expressing feelings of emotions and aspirations

8. transmitting and receiving information

9. social bonding

10. phatic communication (small talk used to establish relationships)
